Common knowledge amoung some professionals (MD and ND):
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3 supplements found in fish oil or certain plant sources are known for potential cardiovascular benefits. Some studies suggest that omega-3 fatty acids might have a modest effect in reducing triglycerides and possibly reducing the risk of cardiovascular events. However, evidence supporting their specific role in managing atrial fibrillation is limited.
Coenzyme Q10: Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant that plays a role in cellular energy production. Some studies suggest that CoQ10 supplementation might have a beneficial effect on heart health by improving energy production in the heart muscle. However, evidence supporting its effectiveness specifically for atrial fibrillation is limited.
Magnesium: Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in various physiological processes, including heart function. Some studies suggest that magnesium supplementation might have a modest effect in reducing the frequency and duration of atrial fibrillation episodes, particularly in individuals with magnesium deficiency.
Probiotics: The role of probiotics in managing atrial fibrillation is not well-established. Some research suggests that probiotics might have modest effects on reducing inflammation, which could indirectly impact cardiovascular health. However, direct evidence supporting their use specifically for managing atrial fibrillation is lacking.
Vitamin D: Low vitamin D levels have been associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation. Some studies suggest that maintaining adequate vitamin D levels might have a modest benefit in reducing the risk of atrial fibrillation. However, more research is needed to establish a clear link.
