Common knowledge amoung some professionals (MD and ND):
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3 supplements containing EPA and DHA have been studied for their potential benefits in mental health. Some research suggests that omega-3 fatty acids might have a role in supporting brain function and possibly reducing symptoms of anxiety, but evidence is mixed.
Magnesium: Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a role in various bodily functions, including relaxation and stress reduction. Some individuals with anxiety might have lower levels of magnesium, and supplementation might help, although more research is needed to establish its effectiveness.
L-Theanine: L-theanine is an amino acid found in tea leaves that may have calming effects. Some studies suggest that L-theanine might help promote relaxation and reduce anxiety, but further research is needed to confirm its efficacy for GAD.
Probiotics: The gut-brain connection is an area of ongoing research in mental health. Some studies suggest that probiotics might influence the gut microbiota, which could potentially impact mood and anxiety. However, their specific role in managing GAD requires further investigation.
