They might be helpful in managing some aspects of the condition, although more research is needed.
Vitamin E: In some cases, vitamin E supplementation might be considered for individuals with NAFLD, particularly nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), the more severe form of NAFLD. Vitamin E might help reduce liver inflammation in some individuals, but it should be used under medical supervision due to potential risks at higher doses.
Probiotics: Some studies suggest that probiotics might have a potential role in improving liver enzyme levels and reducing liver fat in NAFLD patients by modulating the gut microbiota. However, more research is needed to determine specific strains, dosages, and their effects on NAFLD.
Vitamin D: Adequate levels of vitamin D are essential for overall health. Some research suggests an association between low vitamin D levels and NAFLD severity, but its direct impact on the condition requires further investigation.
Antioxidants: Some antioxidants, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium, might have potential benefits due to their ability to counteract oxidative stress, which plays a role in liver damage. However, their specific role in NAFLD management is still under study.
