Common knowledge amoung some professionals (MD and ND):
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil or certain plant-based sources might have potential benefits for mental health due to their anti-inflammatory properties. Some research suggests that omega-3 supplementation might have modest effects on mood and mental health, although its specific role in managing stress or PTSD is not firmly established.
Magnesium: Magnesium is involved in various physiological processes, including relaxation and stress management. Some individuals might explore magnesium supplementation to promote relaxation and potentially alleviate some symptoms associated with stress. However, evidence specifically targeting stress or PTSD is limited.
Adaptogens: Adaptogens are herbs or substances that may help the body adapt to stress. Examples include ashwagandha, Rhodiola rosea, and holy basil. Some studies suggest that adaptogens might have potential benefits in reducing stress-related symptoms, although more research is needed in the context of stress disorders like PTSD.
Probiotics: While not directly related to stress or PTSD, some research suggests that probiotics might have a role in influencing overall mental health and reducing inflammation. The gut-brain connection is an area of interest in mental health research, but specific effects on stress disorders require further investigation.
