Common knowledge amoung some professionals (MD and ND):
Fish Oil/Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3 supplements containing EPA and DHA might have mild anticoagulant effects and could potentially reduce the risk of blood clot formation. However, their impact on preventing DVT events or interacting with anticoagulant medications requires further research.
Vitamin E: Vitamin E supplements have been suggested by some for potential blood-thinning effects. However, evidence supporting their use specifically for DVT prevention or treatment is limited, and high doses of vitamin E can increase the risk of bleeding, which might be problematic for individuals at risk of DVT.
Vitamin K: Vitamin K plays a role in blood clotting, and some individuals might consider vitamin K supplements. However, it's essential to use caution with vitamin K supplements if taking anticoagulant medications because vitamin K can interfere with their effectiveness.
Probiotics: The role of probiotics in preventing or treating DVT is not well-established. Probiotics primarily aim to support gut health and might indirectly affect overall health, but their specific impact on DVT risk or management requires further investigation.
