Abscess Formation: Streptococcus anginosus is often implicated in the formation of abscesses, particularly in the head and neck area. Abscesses may occur in areas such as the brain, liver, lungs, and other organs. Intra-abdominal abscesses are also associated with this bacterium.
Endocarditis: Streptococcus anginosus has been linked to infective endocarditis, an infection of the inner lining of the heart chambers and valves.
Pneumonia: In some cases, Streptococcus anginosus can cause pneumonia, especially in individuals with compromised immune systems.
Soft Tissue Infections: Skin and soft tissue infections, including cellulitis and wound infections, have been associated with this bacterium.
Bacteremia: Streptococcus anginosus can cause bacteremia (bacterial bloodstream infection), which can lead to the spread of the bacteria to various organs and tissues in the body.
