  1. Infections: Peptococcus species have been implicated in various infections, particularly in mixed anaerobic infections. These infections may include intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and infections in other body sites.

  2. Endocarditis: There have been reports of Peptococcus species causing infective endocarditis, an infection of the heart valves.

  3. Bacterial synergy: Peptococcus species often work in synergy with other bacteria, especially other anaerobic organisms, in causing infections. They may be part of polymicrobial infections where multiple bacterial species contribute to the overall pathology.
